B&B Attachments, the UK’s leading supplier
of masts and forklift truck attachments, is
expanding its range of quick release systems
with the launch of OilQuick Forklift a quick
coupler system for forklift trucks that enables
hydraulic attachments to be connected in just
15 seconds. Cost effective, OilQuick increases
the flexibility, versatility and utilisation of forklift
trucks thereby enabling companies to save costs.
Manufactured by Oilquick AB from Sweden and sold exclusively in the UK by
B&B Attachments, the patented OilQuick truck coupler system not only
connects mechanically, but also engages the hydraulic connections at the
same time. Comprising of a two-piece male/female unit, the system is quickly
and easily fitted with one component attached to the forklift and the other to
the attachment.
As the connection is made from the cab, there is no need for the operator to
attach the hydraulic hoses by hand. This not only improves health and safety
but also increases the utilisation of the forklift truck thereby providing better
truck economy.
All types of hydraulic attachments can be changed using OilQuick including
fork positions and clamps. On sites where fork truck attachments have to be
changed several times a day, fitting the OilQuick coupling can result in fleet
reduction leading to cost savings on trucks and fuel.
The OilQuick OQT 850 is suitable for all forklift trucks of 3-9 ton capacity. The
unit’s coupler brackets can either be hooked-on or integrated into the mast for
optimum visibility and lifting capacity.
With the launch of OilQuick, B&B Attachments is offering forklift truck
operators a choice of two quick release systems. The company’s patented
PowerMount range is manufactured as a single unit, thereby improving
visibility. Less expensive than OilQuick it is not fully automatic and
necessitating the driver to attach the couplings manually which normally takes
30 seconds.
Commenting, John Lamberth, Operations Director of B&B Attachments says,
“Companies can choose whether they prefer the semi-automatic PowerMount
quick release system, which is fitted to the truck and uses the hooks on the
attachment to mount it or OilQuick which is fully automatic but dearer. Both
systems provide a much faster and safer way of changing attachments”.

New T320 Compact Track Loader Packs Powerful 92-hp Engine to Do More Work

June 3rd, 2011

WEST FARGO, N.D. – June 2007

The new Bobcat® T320 compact track loader is for operators who want to do more – push more, dig more and grade more. Achieving increased productivity and greater attachment performance isn’t a problem with the powerful 92-hp diesel engine on the T320 from Bobcat Company, a business of Ingersoll Rand.

The introduction of the T320 extends the line of Bobcat compact track loaders to six. This new vertical lift path loader features a significantly larger engine and a 3,200-pound rated operating capacity, making it the largest compact track loader manufactured by Bobcat. Its 92-hp liquid-cooled diesel engine means it has more horsepower to perform better in nearly every application.

Bobcat representatives say the powerful T320 especially excels at using high-flow Bobcat attachments such as the forestry cutter, Brushcat(TM) rotary cutter, stump grinder, chipper and more. Operators can take advantage of the loader’s generous horsepower to complete tasks quickly without sacrificing quality.

The extra horsepower, coupled with the Bobcat rugged rubber tracks, also gives operators the muscle needed for tough pushing, digging and grading. In addition, the track system provides extra traction, reduced ground pressure and low ground disturbance, with superior flotation to extend contractors’ work seasons. The machine’s 18-inch wide rubber tracks produce just 4.2 psi of ground pressure.

The T320 has a lift height of 10 feet 9 inches that follows a vertical lift path, allowing it to load trucks easily. The unique design of the low-profile lift arms gives the operator an excellent view of the attachment and work area.

A variety of Bobcat attachments add to the productivity and versatility of this operator-friendly and cost-effective machine. The T320 is equipped with a hydraulic system that produces
21.2 gpm, or operators can choose the 37 gpm high-flow option, which produces excellent hydraulic breakout force and lifting capabilities. Operators can quickly and easily change between the more than 40 approved attachments for the T320 with the standard Bob-Tach(TM) attachment mounting system or the optional Power Bob-Tach(TM) mounting system.

As with every machine that Bobcat produces, serviceability on the T320 can be accomplished easily and quickly. The loader is outfitted with a transversely mounted engine for single-side servicing. It also has permanently lubricated idlers and rollers that require no maintenance. In addition, adjusting the track tension is accomplished simply by adding grease to the tensioning cylinder.

Comfort and safety features are built into the T320 design with its deluxe operator cab. The unit comes with a fully adjustable suspension seat and has state-of-the-art instrument panels that provide operational, diagnostic and monitoring features. The optional deluxe instrument panel includes a keyless-start security system, lockouts, digital engine hour and job clocks, a multi-language display as well as a “help” menu. Cab options include factory-installed heat and air conditioning.

The widely known Bobcat brand includes an extensive line of powerful, nimble compact construction equipment and attachments and state-of-the-art engineering capabilities.

Volvo unveils impressive new product line up at ConExpo 2011

June 3rd, 2011

Following the recent announcement of a $100 million expansion of its US production facilities, Volvo Construction Equipment is pulling out all the stops at the world’s biggest construction exhibition this year – Conexpo 2011. Las Vegas will be the setting for the global premiere for the company’s fundamentally updated product range, including new generation excavators, wheel loaders, articulated haulers, backhoe loaders, motor graders, skid-steer and compact tracked loaders – and the Red Dot award winning L220G wheel loader. But it’s not just about products; there is also a host of customer focussed solutions for every stage of the machine ownership experience.

Demonstrating very much a forward thinking agenda, Volvo is promoting its innovative engine solution that meets the requirements of the new Tier 4i (in the US) and Stage IIIB (in Europe) emissions legislation. Not only are they cleaner – using proven Volvo-Advanced Combustion Technology (V-ACT) – these reliable engines are, in many applications, more fuel efficient and powerful than the models they replace. As well as engines, transmissions, drivelines, heavy-duty axles and hydraulics in the new machines are all optimized to ensure maximum performance and reliability.

New machine bonanza
Conexpo 2011 will see over 16 machines exhibited. These include models from the new F-Series articulated hauler range, new B-Series backhoe loaders, D-Series excavators and B-Series motor graders, as well as several new generation machines from the road machinery range. As well as a central innovation area that highlights training simulators, futuristic design and Volvo’s CareTrack remote monitoring system, the Volvo display also has three feature areas devoted to customer applications.

In the Road Building zone visitors will be able to see the new G946B motor grader, the SD116D soil compactor and the MT2000 milling machine. In the Oil and Gas sector, along with the revolutionary PL3005 pipe layer, visitors will see an EC480D excavator, a BL70 backhoe loader, an ECR48C excavator and a L90 wheel loader. Finally, in the Quarry and Aggregate zone there is Volvo’s largest wheel loader, the L350, and its largest articulated hauler – the A40F – fitted with the innovative Full Suspension system.

But that isn’t the end of the machines on display. Volvo’s new skid steer loader and compact tracked loaders will be on hand to help explain the benefits of the Volvo Rents offering, while a L90F and PF4410 paver will show customers the advantages of Volvo’s remarketing scheme.

North Hall: Booth 1641
Volvo has a prominent location at Conexpo, with a centrally positioned 2,700 m² (30,000 ft²) exhibition area. Throughout the Conexpo 2011 display is evidence of Volvo’s commitment to be a total solution provider; delivering a comprehensive range of products and services that carry each machine through a long and productive life. The Volvo team is on hand to explain all the ways Volvo dealers are working with customers to improve productivity, maximize machine uptime, reduce risk and take greater control of costs. These include customer support agreements, analysis services, attachments, quick couplers, remanufactured components, Approved Used Equipment, Volvo Rents and services offered by Volvo Financial Services.

Emphasizing the size, strength and breadth of the Volvo Group, Volvo Construction Equipment is joined at the show by sister company, Volvo Penta – who is presenting its own advanced solutions to meet the requirements of the EU and US emissions legislation.

Volvo Construction Equipment comes to the industry’s biggest show this year with greater confidence than ever before. This positive outlook is based on a strengthening reputation for providing total customer solutions and arguably the most innovative fleet of products and services on the market. All in all, Las Vegas’s only must-visit attraction.

Volvo Construction Equipment see sales surge 53% in first three months of 2011

June 3rd, 2011

Volvo Construction Equipment experienced a significant improvement in both sales and income during the first quarter of 2011 as the total world market for construction equipment increased by 51% between January to March, when compared to the same period the year before. The company also became the largest manufacturer of wheel loaders and excavators in China during the period.

The company’s net sales during the first three months were driven strongly by surges in demand in Asia and South America, rising 41% to SEK 15,759 M (SEK 11,148 M in Q1 2010). When adjusted for currency movements, sales out-performed the wider market, rising to 53%. Volvo Construction Equipment also saw a leap in profitability during the first quarter, with operating income improving by almost 70% to SEK 1,708 M, up from SEK 1,006 M in the same period last year.

Reinforcing the underlying strength of the business, operating margin was also strongly improved at 10.8% during the first three months, up from 9.0% during the same period in 2010 – and the highest ever for a first quarter. This improved position was not only the result of higher sales, but also due to cost reduction activities, lower breakeven point and better cost absorption via increased production activity. The value of Volvo Construction Equipment’s order book on 31st March 2011 was also significantly improved, 40% higher than on the same date in the previous year.

Improving expectations
These results come amid continuing improvements in the market situation. Europe and North America both saw considerable sales increases during the first quarter; of 57% and 59% respectively. These were supported by strong increases in Asia, which rose by 54%, driven by a charging Chinese market that grew by an incredible 70%. South America also performed well, rising by 38%, while Other Markets grew by a more modest 3% during the period.

The prospects for the rest of the year are also improving, with the total market expected to grow by between 20-30% during 2011. Expectations for both Europe and North America have again been revised upwards; with Europe forecast to grow by 10-20% (previously forecast 5-15%) while North America is expected to rise 25-30% (previously forecast 20-30%). Hopes for China have also been marked up, with the country now expected to grow by between 20-30%, up from the 5-15% previously stated. The total Asian market is forecast to grow by 10-20%, while South America is expected to expand by between 5-15%.

Eventful three months
It was an exciting quarter for the company, which saw the introduction of over 50 new models to its dealers and customers in Europe and North America. Added to this Volvo became the largest producer of excavators and wheel loaders in China, and its new L220G wheel loader won the coveted Red Dot design award. The company also unveiled plans to invest $100 million in its Shippensburg facility in the US and start production of wheel loaders, excavators and articulated haulers at the site. There was also a change of leadership announced during the first quarter; with Pat Olney replacing Olof Persson as President of Volvo Construction Equipment on May 1st, as Mr. Persson takes up his new role of Executive Vice President and deputy CEO of the Volvo Group.

“We have seen the favorable trend continue in both the Chinese and Brazilian markets, while the recovery in North America and Europe is becoming increasingly clear,” says Olof Persson. “We are in an intense period of product renewal, which will contribute to further strengthen our competitiveness.”

Case IH Maxxfarm range small but powerful

May 26th, 2011

The Maxxfarm range includes six models powered by quiet and fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines ranging from the 23hp Maxxfarm 25 to the 57hp Maxxfarm 60.

Case IH marketing manager Kerry McCauley says the tractors come with features usually expected in a large tractor, like a tight 55 degree turning angle, high ground clearance of up to 390mm and excellent all-round visibility.

Maxxfarm has the versatility to handle a wide range of small farm tasks.

“The Quick-Attach linkage makes for easy hitching of implements and there are two rear remote valves for hydraulic implements, which is a real bonus on tractors in this size range,” McCauley says.

“The main hydraulic pump and steering pump are separate, so the machines can cope with heavy loads, and the high capacity hitch can handle up to 1.75 tonnes.”

The range is also operator friendly. Benefits include a convenient forward-reverse Shuttle Lever control, placed at the left hand, keeping the right hand free to operate other controls.

The Maxxfarm 35 is available with either a Synchro Shuttle or hydrostatic transmission for effortless speed changes from standstill to 27km/h.

The tractors are all available with a well-planned platform with foldable ROPS, while the Maxxfarm 60 is also available in a cab model which offers air conditioning, sunroof, dual doors and wide-opening rear windows.

All models are easy to service due to thoughtful engine layout and a one-touch bonnet and gas strut provides easy access to all key service points.

“This all-new range is stacked with performance-enhancing features that add up to a reliable and powerful farm machine,” McCauley says.

Kubota releases its own front-end loaders

May 26th, 2011

These new loaders are manufactured by Kubota Industrial Equipment in their own manufacturing plant in the USA and fully comply with all Australian front end loader requirements. There are five new models of mechanical self-levelling front-end loaders, all featuring quick detach loader assemblies.

The convenient system saves time by letting the operator attach and detach the loader from the tractor. The mounting pins and hose couplings can be removed from the operator’s seat, without the need for any tools. Boom stays are mounted to the loader frame and easily engaged to ensure stability of the loader when detached from the tractor.

The new LA714 and LA854 loaders are ideally suited to Kubota’s Grand L series of tractors (35 – 52 horsepower). While the new LA514-B fits the 34 horsepower L3400 tractor, the LA714-B fits the 44 horsepower L4400 tractor and the LA854-B is designed for the 52 horsepower MX 5100 tractor.

All of these loaders, when fitted to the relevant model, allow operators an excellent field of vision.

Kubota says the construction grade hydraulic cylinders are made to last and the high quality plating of the cylinder rods mean superior rust protection and enhance sealing performance. For operator safety, boom stops are stored on the loader frame for use when servicing the tractor. All of these loaders come standard with a front radiator guard.

To make the loaders as versatile as possible a skid steer type quick hitch is standard. This hitch system allows operators to quickly attach or detach buckets or implements from the tractor. Loaders come fitted with standard type buckets.

An electric-operated third function kit is available and when fitted is ideal to operate the optional a 4:1 bucket available for all of these loaders. Other options available include pallet fork frames and bale spears.

All of these options are also manufactured by Kubota to ensure correct fitting and efficient operation of the tractor Loader combination. A counterweight is offered as an option for all these loaders and is recommended to ensure safe operation.

Kubota says the release of these new loaders means operators can take advantage of using a loader that perfectly matches the capability of their tractor.

LOC ride-on electric pallet trucks: an essential ally for long-distance handling operations

May 6th, 2011

These electric pallet trucks with a capacity of 2200 kg are intended for intensive work. They are compact, powerful, manoeuvrable, sturdy and safe.

They are the result of advanced design and ergonomics studies.

Several versions exist, two with a fixed platform and one with a fold-up platform.

Recommended for cramped warehouses with high turnover, the flexible, anti-slip fold-up platform is specially designed to absorb shocks.

Its installation in a single movement enables the operator to move safely without fatigue at 6 or 9 km/h depending on the model used (with or without guards).

The control panel has a “slow speed” button to reduce the speed during tricky operations and enable manoeuvring with the vertical tiller.

The profile of the forks is suitable for picking up closed pallets, with markings facilitating their positioning under short pallets.

The 270 and 360 A/h batteries are totally protected in reinforced compartments. The charger is external.

The electric pallet trucks are equipped with:

– a separation excitation drive motor, synonymous with power and reduced consumption,

– an AISI active stabiliser for user and load safety, a Mosfet-Sepex high-frequency programmable electronic variable speed drive, making it possible in particular to maintain the same speed whatever the load while at the same time guaranteeing complete control even on steep gradients.
